Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during our sessions?

During our sessions, you can expect a warm and inviting atmosphere. I strive to provide a safe space where individuals feel accepted, heard, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives. I find that the counseling relationship is collaborative and the client has the power to change their own circumstances. I am there to guide and assist you in gaining tools and resources to work towards a better tomorrow.

What is the time commitment for therapy?

The time spent in therapy is up to the client, but most individuals spend from 8 weeks to a few months in the therapy process.

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. Meeting for longer periods of time can be discussed ahead of time.

Most individuals choose to meet weekly or every other week for therapy sessions. We will work together to choose time commitments and frequency that best supports and meets your needs.

What types of clients do you see?

Sixteen 7 Counseling offers individual mental health services for individuals ages 5 and up. I work with adolescents and adults as they struggle with adjustment and life transitions, anxiety, managing peer relationships, and self-esteem.

What are the fees for services?

My standard rate is $75 for a 50-minute session. The intake session (initial appointment) is also $75 for 50 minutes. I am currently offering a package of 4 sessions at a reduced rate of $60 each with an upfront fee of $240.

My services are self-pay, but I can provide the client documentation if the client wishes to submit for “out of network” benefit coverage with insurance, also known as a superbill.

I also offer a sliding scale that is dependent on individual financial circumstances.

Please contact me if you have concerns about my standard rate and we will discuss the various options.

What is your approach to therapy?

I use a variety of therapeutic approaches because each individual is unique. I enjoy using person-centered counseling techniques because it creates an environment of freedom for the individual. I believe in providing a space where the client can express themselves freely and take control of the session in a safe manner to support the growth of the individual.

What does Sixteen 7 mean?

Sixteen 7 Counseling was founded on the Bible verse Psalm 16:7 which states, “I will praise the Lord, who counsels me, even at night my heart instructs me.” Jesus Christ is the ultimate and Wonderful Counselor.

Sixteen 7 Counseling provides quality and competent counseling services to all individuals, no matter their faith. Sessions will incorporate as much or as little spiritual guidance as you desire.

What are my rights under Good Faith Estimate Law?

  1. Under the No Surprises Act, clients who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage of the “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges for care.

  2. Sixteen 7 will actively strive to provide this at or near the beginning of all new treatment programs for new clients. By law, you have the right to receive this information within 1 business day of your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider for an estimate before service. However, given that an intake session is required to identify the underlying therapeutic problems and thus provide a good faith estimate, this may be difficult to provide. We will of course do our best to provide what we can based on best practices. If extenuating circumstances cause us to forget, you have the right to remind us of this duty and we have the obligation to provide it to you. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is a mistake and we will correct it promptly.

  3. The “Good Faith Estimate” is an estimate of the total costs of the overall care. Due to the nuances and fluidity of therapy, this can be very difficult to project. Nevertheless, we will work to provide accurate estimates so that you can make an informed decision that is in your best interest.

  4. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  5. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 or more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  6. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
